- prickle (sharpened extension of the outer layers of a plant's stem)
“Ami ugyanis a rózsán látható, az nem tövis, hanem tüske, s e kettő korántsem ugyanaz.” — For what you can see on a rose is not a thorn but a prickle, and the two are far from being the same.
- thorn, spine, prickle (any sharp protective part of a plant, without botanical distinction)
