AlkuperäAccording to Aikio (2024), from Proto-Finnic *tüperä, cognate with Proto-Samic *tëpër, whence Lule Sami dabár (“prattle, nonsense”). Alternatively, possibly from the same root as tupertua. Cognate with Karelian typerä.
