A single country is drawn as a filled silhouette — north up, no labels, no neighbours, no scale. Every country is fitted to the same frame, so Russia and Slovenia are the same size on screen and only the shape can tell them apart. Type a country name and you get the distance, a compass arrow and a heat band. Six guesses, one shape, the same for every player in the world.
How the country shape quiz works
One country per day, the same for every player worldwide — the interface translates into your language, but the answer does not. The country is drawn as a filled silhouette: north up, no labels, no borders, no neighbours and no scale bar. You have six guesses.
Every country is fitted to the same frame. Russia and Slovenia fill the screen equally, so size carries no information at all and only the shape can identify the country. That is the decision that makes this a shape game rather than an area game — and the size you gave up is exactly what the first hint rung sells back to you, at the cost of a wrong guess. The projection is equal-area and centred on the country itself, so the outline is never sheared by its latitude the way a Mercator map shears Norway.
Every wrong guess returns the geography hints Globle uses: the great-circle distance in kilometres, a compass arrow pointing toward the answer, and a heat band from cold to burning. On top of those, three rungs unlock as you miss — an area band after two, a population band after three, and the exact number of land neighbours after four. Every rung is a number, so the ladder reads identically in all 90 languages.

Ask first whether the shape is landlocked, coastal on one side, or an island. That single question removes most of the pool before you have looked at a single curve.
Most recognisable countries are recognised by one feature — a peninsula, a bite taken out of a border, a long tail. Find the one anomaly rather than trying to read the whole outline.
A 4,000 km reading tells you little on its own. Two guesses from different continents whose arrows cross give you a region in one move.
Scale is normalised, so a country that looks enormous may be tiny. If your read depends on how big it is, you are reading the wrong evidence — wait for the area band.
A count of zero means an island, not a remote country. A high count means an interior country in a crowded continent — Europe, Central Africa or Central Asia, almost never the Americas.
