How to Play Word Path Unlimited

Word Path Unlimited serves a fresh 5x5 word-trace grid every round instead of one a day. Same rules: four hidden words, orthogonal steps only, every open cell used exactly once, and the four lengths shown before you start. Every grid is generated and then checked to admit exactly one tiling, so an unlimited round is never a guess. Free, 20 languages, no account.

How Word Path works

Word Path gives you a 5x5 grid of letters with some squares walled off in grey. Four words are hidden in the open squares. You trace each one by pressing a letter and dragging to letters directly above, below, left or right of it - diagonals are not legal moves, which is the rule that separates Word Path from Strands-style word hunts.

The four traces are pairwise disjoint and between them they cover every open square exactly once. So Word Path is as much a packing problem as a word hunt: a genuine word traced on the wrong squares leaves letters that no three remaining words can tile.

You are told the four lengths before you start. That is not a hint - it is part of the puzzle's definition. Every grid we serve is run through an exact-cover solver that enumerates every dictionary word traceable on it and checks that exactly one set of four words of those lengths tiles the board. A grid with two solutions is thrown away and regenerated.

Each of the twenty supported languages has its own word pools, so a Greek or Turkish board is generated from Greek or Turkish words rather than translated from English. Daily puzzles are frozen once served, so a later dictionary edit can never rewrite a day you already played.

Tips & Strategy

1
Start in the corners and dead ends

A cell with only one open neighbour cannot be in the middle of a word - it has to be a first or last letter. Word Path's walls usually create two or three of these, and each one is a nearly-free anchor.

2
Count before you trace

The lengths sum to the open-cell count, so treat it as a packing problem. If a 4-letter region is cut off from the rest by walls, one of the 4-letter words lives there, and no other word can reach it.

3
A real word on the wrong squares is still wrong

Because the four paths tile the board exactly, placing a genuine word where it does not belong orphans letters elsewhere. If you are sure of a word but it is rejected, try the same letters along a different route.

4
Do the longest word last, not first

Six-letter traces have the most possible routes, so they are the hardest to place cold. Lock the short words first; by the time three are down the long one usually has exactly one path left.
