How to Play Snake

Daily Snake is the classic snake game with a daily course. The field is 15x15. The snake moves by itself, one cell per step; swipe up, down, left or right, or press an arrow key, to turn it. Every apple it eats makes it one cell longer and a little faster, and the next apple appears at once. Hitting the edge, a wall or the snake's own body ends the run, but the tip of the tail moves away as the snake moves, so it can follow itself closely. Today's map and today's apples are the same for every player in the world, in the same order, and the goal is to eat 30 apples in as few steps as you can: the straight line to each apple is shortest, and the growing tail is what makes it dangerous. Your step count goes to the global leaderboard and time breaks ties. Free, no account, the same course worldwide.

How Daily Snake works

Daily Snake is the classic snake game on a 15x15 field, with one course a day that is the same for every player in the world. The snake moves on its own; you steer it with a swipe or the arrow keys.

Every apple you eat makes the snake one cell longer and a little faster, and the next apple appears at once. The run ends if the snake hits the edge, a wall or its own body.

The daily goal is to eat 30 apples in as few steps as possible. Today's map and apples are the same for everyone, so the only difference between two players is the route they take.

Your step count goes to the global leaderboard, with time breaking ties. Snake Unlimited is the classic endless game on an open field: a fresh round every time, played until you crash.

Tips & Strategy

1
Hug the walls when you are long

A long snake that crosses the middle cuts the board in two. Travel along the edges and keep the open space in one piece.

2
Plan the turn, not the step

Before you cut across to an apple, look where your body will be by the time you get there. Turn one cell early instead of at the last moment.

3
Follow your tail

The tip of your tail leaves its cell as you move, so the cell right behind it is always safe. When you are boxed in, chase your tail until the way opens.

4
Swipe early

Turns wait for the next step, and two quick swipes in a row both count. Swipe a moment before the corner, not on it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Daily Snake?
A free daily version of the classic snake game: one course a day with the same map and the same apples in the same order for everyone. Eat 30 apples in as few steps as you can. Your step count is your score, and time breaks ties.
How do I play Snake?
The snake moves by itself. Swipe up, down, left or right, or press an arrow key, to turn it. Eat the apples to grow, and don't hit the edge, a wall or your own body. You can't turn straight back the way you came.
What is the best Snake strategy?
Take the straight line to each apple while the snake is short. Once it gets long, travel along the walls and keep the middle of the board open, and look where your body will be before you cut across. Turn one cell early rather than at the last moment.
Why is the score in steps and not time?
The snake moves one cell per step at a speed that is the same for everyone, so the number of steps measures how well you steered. It can be checked exactly from your moves, which keeps the leaderboard fair.
Is it the same game for everyone?
Yes. The day's map and apples come from one shared course, so every player in the world faces the same game and the leaderboard is global. Only the interface is translated.
